The Farmington-Wilton area is fortunate to have in it�s midst some of the best schools in the State of Maine. K-12 schools are consistently ranked high in state ratings, and the University of Maine at Farmington is one of the best institutions of higher education in Maine, as well as consistently receiving high ratings in national listings.

Maine School Administrative District 9

Maine School Administrative District 9 serves nine towns with six elementary schools, one middle school, one high school and a vocational center. The district's administrative offices are located on Cape Cod Hill Road in New Sharon. Dr. Michael Cormier is the district's superintendent, 778-6571

Western Mountains Renaissance School

Thirty-one programs offered with certificates of completion, as well as articulation agreements with technical colleges. Works closely with area businesses and community members. Students from five sending schools participate.

Registration: Call to be referred to a teacher, no financial qualifications and no restrictions. Registration open year-round.
Programs offered: Free literacy and refresher training in: reading, writing, math, life skills, GED testing and job skills. Also offers English as a second language, family literacy, computer assisted instruction and basic computer literacy. Group and individual training taught in homes, libraries and community centers. Open to walk-ins year-round. An official GED testing site for Franklin County.
